Industrial Training with VR - Case Study
April 1, 2022
Industrial Training is one of the most complex task that technology couldn’t transform drastically until now. Unlike other subject training and K12 education, it requires a more detailed and hands on practical approach.
In spite of all the transformational changes that happened with technology, the learning and development in the Manufacturing & Industrial Sector has remained largely unchanged. Even though, we had evolutionary changes to the training in terms of content delivery model and accessibility factors, the process and the way training happened remained predominantly the same over the years.
There is no point in changing something just for the sake of a new technology or a trend, until and unless there is a real use case involved. This is particularly more effective in large organizations, wherein changing a set of their process is rather tiresome and complicated than incurring additional costs.
When organizations made the shift to FAX machines, they needed an ecosystem of machine users across their network. Much like any of the network applications we have today, they needed complementary users across the spectrum. Rather, it was short lived than many of the other technological factors due to the advent of Email. Similarly, emails also changed the way paper trail happened across organizations. It transformed both the processes within and outside of their organization. Today, we are at a stage wherein we are transforming from mails to short communication messaging services and automated approval processes etc.
Many organizations have a DNA of adopting latest technology and remain the early adopters of some of the revolutionary tech. Some organizations adopt technologies after they are proven, tried and tested by their larger set of peers. Both these approach might be right depending on their organizational practices and business models.
At times the potential of a technology and the underlying use cases it can solve are not directly understood or forthright envisioned. Sometimes, we don’t realize a use case is a challenge or there are better ways of doing it until we have such a tech or it is being demonstrated by the peers. The best example is the cloud computing and cloud storage. We wouldn’t have realized or understood that there is an efficient means of data transfer and storage until and unless, we knew about cloud storage. We don’t physically collect large files or data through a flash drive or compact disks anymore. That feels like almost an ancient task, which was the de facto model of operation until a few years back. Such is the growth and potential of technology and it’s transformation.
Most of our subscribers and readers by now know that, we are a startup working into providing virtual reality based training solution to the Manufacturing & Industrial Companies. We took an objective approach towards validating our claims and analyzing the potential of Virtual Reality in Manufacturing & Industrial training setup.
We did a detailed case study on how Virtual Reality can transform Industrial Training and the benefits it can bring about. The challenges of the current processes, the cost associated with training a workforce, the time it takes to train a workforce and the productivity a virtual reality based training can bring about. Download our detailed report from the link below.
We have tried to throw some light on the way Virtual Reality can transform the Industrial Training and the entire up skilling and re skilling process across the Industries. This is just the beginning of transformation in one sector, wherein we will continue to broaden our focus area and sectors as we progress.
We are on a mission to transform the way skilling happens across the Industries and Sectors. Let us all together co create a skilled workforce of the future.
We have come to the beginning of end of the First Season of our Podcast Series.
“Skilling with VR” a two part series, airs on the first and last week of this month in your favorite listening platforms. Stay tuned to our social media handles and watch out to hear from us on the final episodes of our first season.
